The Norwegian Red Cross is part of the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network with millions of volunteers in 190 countries. The RCRC Movement’s mission is to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies. The international engagement of NorCross is based on and guided by humanitarian needs and the humanitarian imperative aiming at achieving humanitarian objectives. Internationally, NorCross operates exclusively inside the framework of the RCRC Movement, and has established regional and country offices to ensure decentralized decision-making and proximity to partners and projects.
We are opening an exciting position as Staff on loan based in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, working with The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) as Emergency Medical Services Coordinator which will lead the thematic work areas of Emergency Medical Services and First Aid in National Societies for the Asia Pacific Region.
The post holder should ensure that National Societies and IFRC initiatives in the areas of Emergency Medical Services and First Aid are tailored to the needs of countries and reach the most vulnerable, as well as are aligned and contribute to the achievement of the Federation’s Strategy 2020, Federation Plan and Budget 2016-2020 and adhere to Federation policies and strategic operational framework. He/she should also ensure that those initiatives meet established public health/humanitarian standards and technical guidelines, and are in line with other programs and initiatives of National Societies and the Federation.

Education:
Minimum undergraduate degree in clinical health
Valid Senior First Aid certificate and/or experience in First Aid training
Experience with:
A minimum of five years of experience in clinical health services
A minimum of three years of experience in emergency health
A minimum of five years of experience of working for a humanitarian aid organisation in a developing country
Experience in managing first aid programmes, including conducting first aid and resuscitation trainings
Experience of working within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
Experience of coaching/skill transfer/ training, and staff development
Knowledge of the WHO Emergency Medical Teams initiative and IFRC Emergency response tools
Other skills:
Fluent written and spoken English,
Fluent in French, Arabic or Spanish is an asset
fully familiar with software applications- windows, spreadsheets, word processing, accounting packages
A good understanding of Asia Pacific country context

Contract:
24 months’ contract, with possible extension
