Organization

The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is an international, humanitarian and non-profit organization. The aim of the organization is to help individuals and families who are suffering from distress as a consequence of war and torture. CVT also advocates for stopping torture worldwide. The organization is committed to work with victims of torture and war violence by rebuilding their lives and bringing them hope for the future. CVT has been operating in Jordan since late 2008.

Position: Monitoring Officer (Jordanian national only)

Location: Based in Amman with visits, as needed, to other CVT centers and potential other areas within Jordan

Objective:

The Monitoring Officer is responsible for entering, compiling, and reporting of confidential clinical and project activities data. S/he will implement and maintain data collection systems, monitor the integrity of collected data, and provide oversight for data collection processes. S/he will write or contribute to reports to a variety of audiences. S/he will consult with and support M&E, managerial, and clinical staff about monitoring and evaluation and data-related issues.

Report to: M&E Manager

Supervise: No supervisory responsibilities in this position

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Monitors data collection processes, including working with clinical and/or M&E staff to ensure receipt of clinical assessments (and other program activity information) are as per schedule and in accordance to the organization’s confidentiality and data protection policies.

· Enters clinical assessment data (and other program activity information) in electronic system.

· Double-checks electronic records as needed to make sure data is accurate and comprehensive. Detects and resolves data integrity issues. Ensures all data cleaning protocols are complete and takes primary responsibility for implementing data cleaning.

· Works with clinical and/or M&E staff to address data issues (such as incomplete information or inconsistent data), including providing assistance to project staff to ensure accuracy of data. Cross checks monitoring and evaluation data with other program data systems.

· Coordinates with monitoring and evaluation team to make sure reporting and other deadlines are met.

· Maintains archives of electronic clinical data records as needed.

· Analyzes and interprets results for reporting and other purposes, using Excel, SPSS, or other programs. Contributes to regular reports for both internal and external audiences.

· Ensures confidentiality of data in accordance with the Organization’s policies.

· Assists with any other related activity as deemed necessary by the Monitoring & Evaluation staff, Research Department, and/or Country Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum bachelor’s degree in statistics, management information systems, program evaluation, computer sciences, mathematics, social sciences, or related field

  2. At least 3 years of work experience in a data-related position and/or the nonprofit sector preferable

  3. Fluent in Arabic (spoken and written) and English (spoken and written)

  4. Excellent computer skills (in particular, MS office Word and Excel); knowledge of SPSS or other statistical software preferable

  5. Excellent numerical skills and grasp of basic statistical concepts

  6. Ability to work independently

  7. Excellent attention to detail and organization

  8. Strong organization skills (including ability to coordinate with large and/or remote team)

  9. Excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills

  10. Team player and collaborative approach to teamwork

  11. Ability to work under time constraints

  12. Interest in or commitment to the field of humanitarian work

  1. Maintains strict confidentiality of data. Is strictly committed to respecting the organization’s confidentiality policy and to not using any information that s/he is exposed to outside the organization. Is committed not to approaching (potential) beneficiaries without prior approval from supervisor. Adheres to data protection protocols, including responsibility to report known breaches.

  3. Strong commitment to serving the organization’s beneficiaries regardless of their nationality, religion, gender, minority affiliation, or political background.
