The Center for Victims of Torture is hiring a part-time (40%) Clinical Advisor to oversee physiotherapy services for international, interdisciplinary, trauma rehabilitation programs for survivors of torture and war trauma. Provide training and supervision of expatriate and/or local physiotherapy professionals, work closely with headquarters and in-country program staff to ensure high quality interdisciplinary care to clients, and provide support for new program development. The Clinical Advisor will support a refugee camp-based project in Ethiopia and a new capacity-building project in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The position is based at headquarters in St. Paul, MN, USA. Qualified candidates living in other locations may be considered for a remote work arrangement.

Responsibilities:
Hiring and Supervision of Staff: Participate in hiring, training and orientation for physiotherapists in field-based positions. Provide on-going clinical supervision and performance management, and support professional development. Provide confidential debriefing to physiotherapists to ensure they are coping with the work and living conditions. Provide regular contact using various methods.
Clinical Oversight: Conduct site visits to the field to provide clinical oversight, ensure project goals are met and quality of services remains high. Observe clinical work and review training curriculum. Develop plans to implement changes, as needed. Recommend staffing configuration changes or project enhancements in order to meet organizational goals.
New Project Development: Assist in the development of new International Services projects, by participating in assessment trips, developing intervention models and recommending clinical project designs. Assist in the development of project proposals. Collaborate with Director of International Services, Program Manager and other Clinical Advisors to implement physiotherapy components of new projects.
Other Duties: Participate in other program and organization-wide activities, meetings and trainings. Complete administrative responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations
· Degreed Physiotherapist from an accredited university physiotherapy program.
· 3 years of direct clinical experience working with survivors of torture and/or trauma.
· Extensive experience supervising and mentoring clinical staff members.
Preferred education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations
· Master’s degree or higher in physiotherapy
· 4 or more years of direct clinical experience working with torture survivors.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
· Experience working cross-culturally and with vulnerable populations required.
· Experience working internationally required
· Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels. Skilled at working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
· Understanding of and demonstrated success developing curriculum and providing training for physiotherapists using various learning approaches and incorporating concepts of torture/ trauma rehabilitation, therapeutic neuroscience education and mental health physiotherapy approaches
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
· Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills
· Excellent skills in organization, attention to detail and time management (including the ability to meet deadlines)
· Interest in or commitment to human rights
· Ability to travel up to 6 weeks/year to international locations with limited amenities.
· English language fluency. Proficiency in Arabic and/or Tigrinya helpful but not required.
