Organization: Center for Victims of Torture
Closing date: 20 Nov 2021

The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is hiring a Clinical Advisor for Mental Health to provide clinical leadership and support to international service provision and capacity development projects.

Organization:

The Center for Victims of Torture works toward a future in which torture ceases to exist and its victims have hope for a new life. We are an international nonprofit dedicated to healing survivors of torture. We offer rehabilitation services to those who have been tortured, train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture, and advocate for human rights and an end to torture. We are headquartered in Minnesota, and we have US offices in Georgia and DC, as well as offices in Africa and the Middle East.

Summary:

The Clinical Advisor for Mental Health will provide clinical leadership and support across two types of projects: capacity-development projects working with independent organizations and CVT-run international clinical projects. The Clinical Advisor guides implementation of clinical capacity-building goals by supporting clinical supervisors and staff of local organizations; supervises psychotherapist/trainers; develops curriculum and conducts training both in-person and online; conducts program monitoring and evaluation activities; and collaborates with other project team members. In a CVT-run clinical project, the Clinical Advisor provides direct clinical supervision, clinical program oversight, and mentoring and support for psychotherapist/trainers with the goal of strengthening CVT’s interdisciplinary trauma rehabilitation program for refugee, IDP, and returnee survivors of torture and other human rights atrocities. The projects and locations that Clinical Advisors for Mental Health are assigned to shift every few years based on organization need, funding, and professional interest.
