Program/Project Coordinator - Atlanta

The Center for Victims of Torture is hiring a Program Coordinator to provide program, logistical, risk management, and administrative support for projects at our St. Paul Healing Center, Atlanta and International Services programs. The program/projects include CVT-run projects providing rehabilitation to torture and war trauma survivors; projects where CVT’s expertise in rehabilitation contributes to survivor-led justice and accountability initiatives; as well as projects aimed at building the capacity of independent torture treatment centers through technical assistance. The primary responsibilities include providing logistics, staff coordination, reporting, operations risk monitoring, and other program coordination responsibilities that support the effective management of projects.

  • Location: National, primarily in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Reports to: Director of US Clinical Programs
  • Remote status: 100%
  • Hiring range: $50,000-$58,000 per year, depending on qualifications (degree, licensure and relevant experience)
  • Work hours: e.g., Mon-Fri 9am-3pm EST, Mon-Fri, daytime, must be available for 7am EST meetings, Tues-Thurs 9am-12pm EST
  • Position is open to candidates who reside in and are eligible to work in the US

Organization:

The Center for Victims of Torture works toward a future in which torture ceases to exist and its victims have hope for a new life. We are an international nonprofit dedicated to healing survivors of torture. We offer rehabilitation services to those who have been tortured, train partners around the world who can prevent and treat torture, and advocate for human rights and an end to torture. We are headquartered in Minnesota, and we have US offices in Georgia and DC, as well as offices in Africa and the Middle East.

Responsibilities:

  • Support for Projects: Develop or contribute to project tracking systems. Provide support for projects to ensure achievement of objectives within budgets. Monitor and report on progress against project objectives. Facilitate communication across departments, between overseas operations and headquarters, and with staff at partner organizations. Assist with implementation and monitoring of remote operations, including local policies and registration processes for project start-up and/or expansion. Facilitate donor reporting processes, draft and review reports. Participate in grant proposal writing. Monitor contextual developments and provide summaries and/or analysis as requested. May participate in assessment trips or site visits as needed.
  • Coordination with Other Departments: Serve as key coordination point for departments that provide project support, including Finance, IT, Human Resources, Evaluation and Research, Communications, and Development. Liaise with Evaluation and Research Department staff to ensure appropriate reporting of client and project indicators. Work with Communications Department staff on the development and production of public content and materials. Respond to requests for information from other departments.
  • Staff Coordination and Support: Coordinate orientation, travel, housing, administrative and financial logistics for expatriate staff (for international projects), ensuring compliance with CVT financial policies and security protocols. Coordinate travel and accommodation for staff visiting headquarters. Provide support to staff traveling on assessment trips and/or monitoring trips. Provide support to human resources processes including recruitment, vacancy monitoring, and team work plan monitoring.
  • Special Projects: Work on discrete projects aimed at standardizing and improving systems, knowledge, practices, and staff skills as assigned.
  • Other Duties: Participate in other department and organization-wide activities, meetings and trainings. Complete administrative responsibilities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 3 years of administrative or project coordination experience in an NGO or nonprofit environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with US government donors and budgets; including experience with budgeting and financial tracking of funds
  • Demonstrated experience working with grant requirements, including reporting

Preferred education, experience, certificates, licenses or registrations

  • 5 or more years of administrative or project coordination experience in an NGO or nonprofit environment
  • Master’s degree
  • International work experience strongly preferred

  • Commitment to engaging in human rights, justice and accountability, and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts within the organization
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Excellent skills in organization, attention to detail and time management (including the ability to meet deadlines)
  • Proficiency to speak and write in at least one language in addition to English desirable.
  • Ability to travel to remote and politically unstable environments, lacking in amenities up to 10% time

Supervisory Responsibilities: May supervise volunteers or interns

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment and/or remote work environment
  • Time spent on the computer or in meetings is approximately 90%
  • Travel to remote and politically unstable environments, lacking in amenities up to 10% time
